Washington Cricket League (WCL) association is going to organize the Nation’s Capital T20 tournament from October 28th – 31st, 2021 at the Bolen 18 & 19 and Veterans Memorial Park grounds. The USA Cricket sanctioned domestic franchise T20 tournament will be crucial because the selected national squad players for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas regional qualifiers in Antigua from November 07th – 14th will be taking part in the event, that will provide much needed game-time before they travel to the Caribbean Islands.
The 8-team tournament will see teams from Stallions Cricket Club, 22 Yards Cricket Club, Jozi Warriors Cricket Team and Herndon Bengals Tigers Cricket Club competing in one group (Lincoln Group), while teams from Samp Army Cricket Franchise, Asia United, Potomac Cricket & Sports Club and DMV Youngbloods (WCL – Washington Youth Cricket League – WYCL) will be competing in the second group (Jefferson Group). After the conclusion of the round-robin group stage matches, the top 2 teams from both the groups will advance to the semifinals.
