Oman Cricket has announced the start of the All-Omani T20 tournament, which will be the final event of the 2021-22 cricket season. It will be held from April 04th to April 13th 2022 at the Oman Cricket Academy, with the start time for all matches being 8 pm local time. Seven (7) teams will compete for the title, namely Oct Ruwi, Oct Muscat, Oct Al Mabela, Oct Al Amerat, Oct Al Hail ‘A’, Oct Al Hail ‘B’ and Oct Seeb. The teams have been split in groups of two (2), with four (4) teams in Group ‘A’ and three (3) in Group ‘B’. The tournament will follow a round-robin group stage format, followed by the knockout stage on April 10th.
Chief Development Officer of Oman Cricket Duleep Mendis said “It gives me great joy to announce the start of this all-Omani competition. One of our aims at Oman Cricket has always been to build on the successful staging of the T20 World Cup in the Sultanate last year and further cultivate an active interest towards the game of cricket, in the nation’s local residents. In addition, I believe that grassroots cricket is the foundation that holds up the game as a whole in any country. We have already taken multiple steps in ensuring its robust health in Oman and this event is another milestone on that same road.
