USA U19 Women to compete in Rising Stars T20 Championship in Trinidad & Tobago in July 2022

The U19 Women’s national squad of United States of America (USA) will be taking part in the 2022 CWI (Cricket West Indies) Rising Stars T20 Championships from July 05th – 13th, 2022 in Trinidad and Tobago, across the venues of Brian Lara Cricket Academy and the Diego Martin Sporting Complex in Trinidad. This will the second (2nd) tour for the U19 Women’s team to the Caribbean, having toured St. Vincent & The Grenadines in January 2022 for a bi-lateral series of T20 matches.

The U19 Women’s teams representing Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Trinidad & Tobago and Windward Islands will be playing against USA U19 Women in a single round-robin group stage format competition. This is a massive opportunity for the USA squad to start their preparations, who have qualified from the Americas region for the inaugural edition of ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2023. The national squad members will also be playing the National U19 Championships back home during the last quarter of this year and regular fixtures like these are going to help the coaching staff execute their plans in a much better manner. The squad will be led by Geetika Kodali, who along with Lisa Ramjit have already played for the senior USA Women’s team in ICC global/regional qualification events held for Women’s T20 World Cup.

The U19 squad will be coached by former West Indies International Shivnarine Chandrapaul, who also currently has a coaching contract in 2022 CPL (Caribbean Premier League). Shivanarine has also been active in the US domestic circuit, as the head coach of Orlando Galaxy in the ongoing 2022 Minor League Cricket. He contract will see him be in charge for the Women’s national squad and U19 Women’s squad until the end of 2023.
