KNCB (Netherlands Cricket Board) will be hosting the U19 Women’s team from Scotland in a 3-match qualifier series in the T20 format, which will be the qualification pathway towards the inaugural edition of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2023. The U19 Women’s T20 World Cup event will be a 16-team affair with 11 full member nations – Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe. Out of the five remaining spots, four will be determined by regional Qualifiers, while the fifth spot has been automatically awarded to the USA on account of the side being the only Associate nation eligible to compete under the ICC’s Event Pathway Participation Criteria in the Americas region.
Sportpark Maarschalkerweerd ground in Utrecht will be hosting the three (3) matches between Netherlands U19 Women and Scotland U19 Women on August 09th, 10th and 11th. The players from both the countries have been preparing for the event by competing in domestic season tournaments, with the Dutch U19 Women team also playing a bi-lateral T20 series with Ireland U17 Women team before the qualifier. The Scotland players have also had competitive game-time leading up to the qualifier, with matches against MCC Women and Lancashire Women showcasing the likes of Emily Tucker, Niamh Muir and Nayma Shaikh, who would look to make a mark in the upcoming games.
