Japan Cricket Association (JCA) are organizing the Men’s Japan Cricket League (JCL) in their 2022/2023 domestic season in multi-format competitions, and the inaugural edition of JCL T20 competition has entered the knock-out stages, after the completion of the group stages that began on 13th August 2022. The sixteen (16) clubs competition saw the top two (2) teams from the four (4) groups advance to the quarter-finals (Chiba Sharks Cricket Club, Alpha Quashers Yokohoma, Tokyo Falcons, Rising Stars, Men in Blue Tokyo, Tokyo Titans Cricket Club, Tigers Cricket Club and Paddy Foleys Tokyo). The Finals Day (semi-finals and Final) is scheduled to take place on 01st October 2022.
Japan Men’s national squad are scheduled to host the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific sub-regional qualifier in Sano in October 2022, and the JCL T20 tournament is the benchmark event for players to impress the national coaching set-up for potential spots in the national squad come October. After the completion of the International tournaments, the knock-out stages of the 2022 Japan Cup tournament will take place, with teams competing for respective Plate, Shield and Cup titles, depending upon the results in the qualifying knock-out stage on 22nd and 23rd October 2022.
