The second (2nd) edition of Minor League Cricket (MiLC) will commence in June 2022, when twenty-six (26) franchise teams compete from 25th June – 28th August for the title. The Silicon Valley Strikers are the Defending Champions from the inaugural edition held in 2021, winning the final against New Jersey Stallions. Toyota return back as the Title sponsor, while major American MLP (Master Limited Partnership) organization Sunoco come on board as the presenting partner for the 2022 season.
There are few withdrawals, new additions and team name changes in the new season. In the Central division, Chicago Tigers replace the Chicago Catchers, while Austin Athletics and Irving Mustangs undergo name change and will now be known as the Lone Star Athletics and the Dallas Mustangs respectively. Atlanta Param Veers departing and Florida Beamers to be on hiatus in the Southern division, with Atlanta Lightning joining the division in the 2022 season. The MiLC draft was held on 12th May 2022, with all the teams selecting their initial rosters and in the lead-up to the tournament, have also announced additional signings for their respective squads.
Broadcast coverage for the entire season will see all matches being live streamed on YouTube and Facebook, along with TV broadcast on Willow TV for more than 35 regular season games. There also has been increase in the prize money for the tournament, with the championship-winning team collecting a $150,000 first prize amount out of a total of $350,000.
The league stage will take place for eight (8) weeks staring 25th June, with the Conference (Western and Central divisions in Pacific Conference, Eastern and Southern division in Atlantic Conference) semifinals taking place on 20th – 21st August, and the Finals weekend on 27th – 28th August 2022. However, USA national squad members will miss the matches during July and August due to International commitments that includes the T20 World Cup global qualifier in Zimbabwe and CWC League 2 series in Scotland.
