Cricket Mongolia organizing Men’s and Women’s high-performance camp during winter

Mongolian Cricket Association (MCA) have commenced indoor sessions for Men’s and Women’s players part of their High-performance program for the winter season. The players were chosen based on their performances in the HPN One Day series held on three weekends in September 2022 at the Mongolian Friendship cricket ground, between two (2) select Men’s and Women’s teams in matches organized in the 50-overs format.

Cricket Mongolia were awarded the “Associate” membership status during the 2022 ICC Annual general meeting held in Birmingham, and that allows them to field their National teams in future ICC events, on the basis of having eight (8) clubs in the domestic system to be playing a set number of matches in a calendar year. MCA hosted the Men’s National league T20 tournament from July – September 2022, where a total of eight (8) clubs competed for the title and hence, have fulfilled the criteria for their Men’s team to be eligible to take part in the future sub-regional qualifiers for the Asia region (for T20 World Cup editions beyond 2024).

Off the field, there have been other developments as well, with ICC-Asia representative and presenter, Mr Iqbal Sikander, conducted the ICC-Asia and MCA level 1 Coaching Course 2022 for twenty-one (21) participants, in which seven (7) Women’s participants were also involved. The first ever Criiio session in Mongolia was also organized by Iqbal Sikander and MCA’s coaches.
