Denmark Cricket announce schedule for men’s team for 2022 season

Danish Cricket Federation (DCF) have announced a packed domestic and International schedule for the men’s national squad for the 2022 season. Denmark men’s team will be seen in qualifying events for 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (Europe sub-regionals) and 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup (Challenge League A) this year.

Denmark will be hosting the men’s national team from Finland from May 05th – 08th, 2022 for a 3-match T20I Nordic Cup in Copenhagen, with the tour also featuring couple of games between the ‘A’ teams of both the countries. The team will be travelling to Belgium for the Europe sub-regional qualifiers from June 26th – July 05th, where they compete against teams from Hungary, Gibraltar and the host’s in their group and try to advance to the final against the top team from the other group comprising of teams from Spain, Portugal, Malta and Israel.

The team will be back in 50-overs tournaments, as the 2nd and 3rd round of CWC Challenge League group A will take place in Canada in July/August, and in Malaysia in November/December, with ten (10) List-A matches for the team to try and finish on top of the points table to advance to CWC Challenge Play-off tournament in 2023.

On the domestic circuit, DCF have announced changes to the structure of the competitions, with the Elite division to feature a single round-robin group stage format, following which the top 4 teams will play the playoffs matches and the bottom 4 teams will play the playoffs to avoid relegation to the first (1st) division. The T20 tournament will have two (2) groups with four (4) teams each, from which the top two (2) teams will qualify for the DM finals in Esbjerg on 18th June and 19th June.
