Following the success of the recently concluded 2023 Kwibuka Memorial Women’s T20 tournament in Kigali, Rwanda Cricket Association (RCA) are continuing with the momentum by organizing the second (2nd) edition of Women’s Elite League T20 tournament at the Gahanga International Cricket stadium from June 20th – 26th, with participation from players from countries that took part in the Kwibuka tournament, alongside other overseas players (from Nepal). The National Women’s T20 Division 1 tournament will be taking place in the month of September 2023.
The tournament sees an addition of a team for the 2023 event, with the team from Imena Herons joining the three (3) teams from Amasimbi Hawks, Ingenzi Heroes and Ingabo Knights, who competed in the inaugural edition held last year. With Rwanda Women winning the 2023 Kwibuka Memorial tournament, Women’s cricket is reaching new heights in the country and constant fixtures in the domestic season only helps in the development of the player skills on a continuous note. Rita Musamali (Uganda), Sonu Khadka (Nepal), Esther Wachira (Kenya), Luckie Piety (Nigeria), Queentor Abel (Kenya), Sarita Magar (Nepal), Melvin Khagoitsa (Kenya), Immaculate Nakisuyi (Uganda), Patricia Malemikia (Uganda), Shadrack Tuelo (Botswana), Stephanie Nampiina (Uganda) and Vanessa Adhiambo (Kenya) are the overseas players set to take part in the competition.
