Scotland Men’s team to tour Antigua in April 2023

Cricket Scotland (CS) Men’s national squad along with their new Interim Head coach will be travelling to Antigua for a preparatory camp in April 2023 to start their preparations towards 2023 ICC World Cup qualifier in Zimbabwe. The squad are set to have a series of practice sessions and matches against regional opposition from April 01st – 12th, after which a number of players will take part in a regional T20 competition, the Cool and Smooth T20 Explosion (Cool & Smooth T20), from April 12th and close on April 29th with a grand finale at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound.

A total of eight teams, namely Liberta Blackhawks (2022 edition Champions), Bethesda Golden Eagles, New Winthorpes Lions, Empire Nation, Bolans Blasters, Pigotts Crushers, Jennings Tigers and All Saints Pythons. While George Munsey took part as the only Scottish representative last year, him alongside Richie Berrington, Matthew Cross, Michael Leask, Chris Greaves, Hamza Tahir, Liam Naylor and Oliver Davidson will enter the draft this year to get selected by the franchises mentioned above. Cricket Scotland Chief Executive Gordon Arthur said “We’re delighted to have Scottish representation in the 2023 Cool and Smooth T20. This collaboration with Antigua Cricket is innovative and very cost effective for Cricket Scotland in what is a difficult financial climate. We’ve been able to save over £100,000 on the full costs of delivering this tour, by working in partnership with Cool and Smooth.”

George Munsey (Jennings Tigers), Matthew Cross (Empire Nation), Richie Berrington (Bolans Blasters), Michael Leask (New Winthorpes Lions), Chris Greaves (Liberta Blackhawks), Karima Gore (Liberta Blackhawks), Hamza Tahir (Bethesda Golden Eagles), Liam Naylor (All Saints Pythons), Oliver Davidson (Liberta Blackhawks) and Nosthush Kenjige (Bethesda Golden Eagles) are the Associate member country players taking part in the Tournament.
