Cricket Brazil will be hosting the 17th edition of Men’s South American Championships and the 12th edition of Women’s South American Championships in the month of October 2022. The previous editions of both the Men’s and Women’s events were hosted by Cricket Peru in 2019, where both the events were played with official T20I ranking points, while the 2018 edition of the Women’s event was the first edition played with official T20I ranking points in Argentina. The last two editions were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Women’s South American Championships will take place from October 13th – 16th, 2022 and will see Women’s teams from Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Canada compete for the title, with Canada Women making their debut in the tournament as a special invite. The Men’s South American Championships will take place from October 20th – 23rd, 2022 with Men’s teams from Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Uruguay competing for the title. Matches involving Colombia and Uruguay will not be carrying T20I ranking points as both the countries currently do not hold Associate membership with International Cricket Council (ICC). Argentina and Brazil are the Defending Champions in the Men’s and Women’s events respectively from the 2019 edition of the Championships.
The age-group Championships will also be held this year before the Men’s and Women’s events from October 07th – 09th, with Argentina and Brazil facing each other in the U19 event, while teams from Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Mexico competing in the U15 event.

In the Men’s tournament, why do the matches between ICC members not have T20I status? This seems totally ridiculous to me, given that the Women’s games do.
Frank Farchione, yah it’s ridiculous to have no T20I match, despite having 5 ICC members!!!!
I’m also searching the reason, why these matches are not being counted as T20I, but who know’s the answer? Do Czarsportsauto knows the answer?
For having these matches played with ranking points, a lot more funds are required towards expenses for Match officials, staff, per diems, security, ACU, travel, logistics etc etc. Cricket Brasil are not getting much in terms of funding from ICC, so they have to make do with what they have. They were able to play the Women’s matches with ranking points, but the number of games in the Men’s category are more.
Thanks and regards,

Ridiculous. Doesn’t answer anything.
