Botswana Cricket to host 2028 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Sub-regional Qualifier A in May 2026
The International Cricket Council (ICC) have announced the Africa region qualification pathway for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028, with Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) set to host the Africa Sub-regional Qualifier A in Gaborone from May 23rd – 30th, 2026. BCA will be hosting the Men’s National teams of Kenya, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Mali, Cameron and Cote D’ivoire in the tournament, from which the top two (2) teams will advance to the next qualification pathway event in 2027 at the end of the single round-robin group stage format.
For Ivory Coast, this tournament would be their 2nd ever International assignment, having made their T20I debut during the 2026 edition Africa Sub-regional qualification pathway event in November 2024. The team will be playing their first-ever T20I game against the likes of Kenya, Mali, Rwanda and Cameroon during the tournament. Kenya will go in as one of the favorites’ for the two (2) qualification spots, with the major challenge expected to come from the likes of Botswana, Sierra Leone and Rwanda.
