4-nations to take part in ACA T20 Africa Cup Southern qualifiers in Botswana

Africa Cricket Association (ACA) have announced the schedule for the upcoming T20 Africa Cup southern region qualifiers, to be hosted by Botswana from Nov 05th – 09th, 2018 at BCA Oval grounds in Gaborone.

The tournament will begin right after the conclusion of the ICC World T20 Africa “C” qualifiers from Oct 28th – Nov 04th, 2018 at the same venue. However, unlike the ICC qualifiers being a 7-nation event, the ACA southern qualifiers will be a 4-nation affair with host’s Botswana competing against Malawi, Mozambique & St Helena for two qualification spots into the main draw of T20 Africa Cup, to be hosted in 2019 tentatively in Nairobi, Kenya (announced provisionally).

2 qualifiers each from three regional qualifiers will form the eventual 6-nation T20 Africa Cup tournament in 2019 in which all the matches will be eligible to be played with T20I status. Nigeria and Ghana have already qualified from their regional qualifiers, which was held right after the conclusion of World T20 Africa “A” qualifiers in Lagos, Nigeria earlier this year.
