Vanuatu’s Matautaava continues impressive season with Essendon CC in Australia

Vanuatu’s star player from ICC WCL Division 5 and member of ICC East Asia-Pacific squad, Patrick Matautaava is putting in some hard work on the field for his club, Essendon CC, as he continues his impressive season for them in the Kookaburra Men’s Premier Firsts competition.

In 12 matches played for the season so far, Matautaava has made 212 runs and taken 13 wickets with his medium-pace. Patrick made a modest start to the season by his reputation but it was the last match he played against Dandenong, which has shown his capibilities with both bat and ball.

Matautaava contributed 56 runs with the bat and took a five-for while bowling to finish with good returns of 5/86 in 27 overs. He has picked up couple of wickets earlier in the matches against Fitzroy Doncaster (2/16 – T20 match), Ringwood (2/14 – 50-overs match) and St Kilda (2/10).

Matautaava also captained in some of the ICC EAP Men’s squad matches in the 2018 Australian Country Cricket Championships. Vanuatu will be taking part in ICC WCL Division 4 in Malaysia in April 2018 and Patrick’s experience of playing in Australia might just what Head Coach Shane Dietz would cherish to have at his disposal as Vanuatu will seek promotion to Division 3 by finishing in the top 2 spots against Jersey, Malaysia, Denmark, Bermuda and Uganda.
