Uganda lose series decider in a close T20 encounter with Qatar

A 14-runs margin of defeat denied Uganda the chance to win the bi-lateral series against Qatar as they lost the series 3-2,  decided in a T20 contest in the final match of their tour.

After a good bowling display restricted Qatar to 121/6 in their 20 overs, early and crucial middle overs wickets pegged back their chase as they could only reach 107/9 in their 20 overs.

Deusdedit Muhumuza continued his good form on the tour as he picked up 3/10 off his 4 over and along with Charles Waiswa (2/19), reduced Qatar to 49/6 at one stage; however, an unbeaten partnership of 72 runs for the 7th wicket between Mohammed Rizlan (35 n.o off 36) and Noman Sarvar (35 n.o off 32) took Qatar to their eventual total on the board.

Mohamed Nadeem (3/12) and Hussain Iqbal Chaudhry (2/17) bowled brilliantly in tandem to pick up crucial wickets in the middle overs for Qatar to restrict Uganda from chasing down the target.

Uganda now move onto their 2nd leg of their journey to India, where further matches are planned as part of their pre-WCL Division 4, to be held in Malaysia from 25th Apr – 06th May, 2018.
