Thailand stay unbeaten to enter Final as Myanmar register first win

Host’s Thailand remained unbeaten after the 2nd round of group matches in the ACC Eastern region T20 tournament being played at TCG ground in Bangkok. Thailand overcame a tough challenge from Bhutan to stay on top of the points table with 2 wins from as many matches to enter the Final of the 4-nation event. Bhutan and Myanmar will contest in their final group match on 24th Feb 2018 for the place in the final.

The day was much more significant for Myanmar, who won their first match of the tournament, defeating China in the morning match. Both matches on Day 2 saw the bowlers dominate proceedings for all the four countries involved in the tournament.

While Bhutan managed to bowl out Thailand for 108 in 19.5 overs, Thai bowlers returned the favour by dismissing them for a paltry 64 runs in 18.5 overs to win the match by 44 runs. China and Myanmar fought a closely contested match as Myanmar managed to eclipse China’s total of 79/9 by reaching 80/6 in the 14th over.

Thailand 108 all out in 19.5 overs (Sittipong Hongsi 27, Daniel Jacobs 23, Ryan Rahul Raina 14, Tobden Singe 3/7, Tenzin W 2/17, Suprit Pradhan 2/17) beat Bhutan 64 all out in 18.5 overs (Suprit Pradhan 23, Sanjeevan Raj Gurung 13, Vichanath Singh 4/7, Ryan Rahul Raina 3/9) by 44 runs

With China having lost both their group matches, they are out of the running for the spot in the final as they face Thailand in their final group match. Bhutan and Myanmar will have all to play for to decide who faces Thailand in the final of the tournament.
