Bermuda flex their muscles against Argentina in Americas sub-regional

A win by more than 100 runs in a T20 contest tells the story of how dominant the victorious team was over their opponents and Bermuda’s 124 runs win over Argentina summarized the very fact perfectly well in their encounter in the ICC World T20 Americas sub-regionals.

Bermuda’s top-order batsmen flexed their muscles as they racked up 209/7 in their 20 overs, thanks largely to a smashing start provided by O Bascome (32 off 16) and Kamau Leverock, who put up 82 runs in the first 7 overs before Bascome got out.

Leverock (93 off 51) and Janeiro Tucker (40 off 33) got together to put on further 96 runs for the 2nd wicket as the duo took Bermuda to 178 in the 16th over before Leverock’s dismissal started a mini-collapse which saw Bermuda lose 5 more wickets in the final 4 overs to stop their juggernaut. Bermuda finally, ended with 209/7 having added only 29 runs in the final four overs of their innings.

A forgettable day for Argentina bowlers as Samuel Hatt (3/46) and David Mauro (2/8) returned with good figures among the others.

In reply, Argentina managed to bat their entire 20 overs but made only 85/6 to lose the contest by a whopping 124 runs. Pedro Arrighi (42 off 50) was once again the top-scorer for the team as the rest of the batting line-up struggled to keep up with the asking rate and kept losing wickets.

Charles Trott (2/14) and Kwaisi James (2/8) kept the scoring under check in the middle overs and picked up the majority of wickets between them and their bowling partnership will be crucial for Bermuda’s encounter against Cayman Islands, next.
