What was supposed to be a T20 encounter between Saudi Arabia and Uganda Chairman’s select XI turned out to be a 7-overs-a-side contest due to persistent rain in the afternoon period at Kyambogo Cricket Oval.

When the match officially started, Saudi Arabia won the toss and put in the host’s to bat first. Uganda Chairman’s select made 52/4 in their 7 overs with main contribution from Zephaniah Katungi, who made 25 runs in the innings. However, his untimely dismissal at 44/2 saw Uganda make only 8 more runs in their final 10 deliveries as the acceleration did not come from the other batters. Muhammad Afzal (2/8) was the pick of the bowlers for Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia won the match comfortably losing 3 wickets in the process but reaching 53/3 with 9 balls to spare. Imran Arif (27 not out) led the chase clobbering Falak Sher for two huge sixes to close out the win for the visitors. Moazam Shaukat also got amongst the runs, scoring 15. Jonathan Ssebanja and Trevor Bukenya managed to get a wicket onto the scoring sheets for Uganda Chairman’s select XI.
Saudi Arabia now play the Uganda national squad in a 50-overs match in Kyambogo on 31st Mar 2018.
