Nigeria to host ACA T20 Africa Cup Northwest Qualifiers in Apr 2018

In a major boost to cricket growth in non-full members of ICC in the African region, the first ever African Cricket Association T20 Africa Cup will be held in Nairobi, Kenya in 2019.

19 countries will take part in three regional qualifying tournaments for 6 places in the Final tournament for ACA T20 Africa Cup Title.

Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) will be hosting the Northwest region qualifiers at Lagos from Apr 24th – 30th, 2018. ACA T20 Africa Cup will be played in accordance with ICC Men’s T20 International Playing Conditions Effective 28th Sep 2017.

Host’s Nigeria will once again play against Ghana, Gambia and Sierra Leone from the ICC Africa sub-regionals Qualifiers for WorldT20 from Apr 14th – 22nd, 2018 at Lagos. Mali and Cameroon also join the four countries mentioned above for the 6-nation ACA T20 Africa Cup Qualifiers.

President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), Professor Adam Yahaya Ukwenya said “It is unprecedented in our cricket history for Nigeria to be given hosting rights for two back-to-back qualifying tournaments ICC T20 (April 14-22) and African Cricket Association T20 (April 24-30). Its a measure of confidence on the new board of NCF and Nigeria.”
