There were no surprises on the 3rd day of the ICC Asia “A” qualifiers for WorldT20, being held in Kuwait, as United Arab Emirates continued their unbeaten run after clinching their third consecutive group phase victory over Bahrain while Qatar and Saudi Arabia also notched up their second wins to pull away from host’s Kuwait in the points table.
While Bahrain put up a commendable performance with the ball to pick up 9 UAE wickets and restrict them to only 149, the batting line-up could not match up to their bowlers, as UAE kept them down to 98/8 to win the match by 51 runs.
Maldives also managed to restrict Qatar to 149 as they picked up 7 wickets in the process. Their batting fared just a little bit better than Bahrain actually, as they reached 105/7 and lost out by a margin of 44 runs.
Host’s Kuwait had a very disappointing day at the office as they got bowled out for only 92 runs against Saudi Arabia and could not stop them from reaching the target in super quick time as the Saudi batsmen chased the target within 12 overs with 7 wickets to spare to also boost their net run-rate in the process.
