Former Sri Lanka Women’s team captain and a veteran of 5 World Cup’s, Chamani Senevirathne, has been named in UAE’s 14-member squad to play in the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier from July 3rd – 14th, 2018 in the Netherlands.
Senevirathne, a veteran of 80 ODI’s and 32 T20 matches along with a solitary Test match retired from professional cricket in 2014 and moved from Sri Lanka to UAE and continued playing for Abu Dhabi Cricket and recently was part of the winning team in the UAE National Women’s T20 League.

Her numbers of 225 runs at an average of 45 made her the 3rd highest run-scorer in the entire tournament and her experience will be crucial for UAE Women’s team as they prepare for their biggest challenge till date in the World Cup qualifiers.
UAE Women’s team qualified along with Thailand from the Asian region qualifiers into the global qualifiers in 2017. Bangladesh, Netherlands, Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, Thailand, Uganda and United Arab Emirates will be in action in Netherlands for 2 qualification spots for Women’s WorldT20, to be held in West Indies.
Ireland, Thailand, Scotland and United Arab Emirates are placed in one group while Bangladesh, Netherlands, Papua New Guinea and Uganda are placed in the 2nd group. Top 2 teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
