The Afghan Joy of watching Rashid Khan

While in Kolkata, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan was having a field day for himself and Sunrisers Hyderabad against Kolkata Knight Riders, the whole of Afghanistan was also relishing the opportunity to see their countryman bring more pride through cricket, which is unparalleled to nothing in a country, trying to come to grips with the sad incident which took place recently.

The fact that Rashid Khan dedicated his performance in the match (34 runs, 3 wickets and outfield catches ) to the victims of the terror attack speaks a lot in itself.

To the World, Rashid Khan is a Champion. It has been documented time and again. But for Afghanistan, he is their National Hero and no matter come what may, the image is never going to change in their eyes and hearts. Rashid gives them courage and hope and that is something he proudly carries with himself, everytime he takes the field for either his National side or any Franchise club around the globe.

When he was selected by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2017, it brought upon unimaginable smiles on the Afghan people’s faces and in 2018, the smiles have become bigger and with more pride as he showcases the true Afghan spirit of fight though his performances. A fight, which the regular Afghan people have to live with everyday in their lives, just gets transformed into happiness and joy when celebrating alongside their own, as he takes to the field.

Rashid’s records are as good as any ever seen, but he brings something even more special to Afghanistan’s cricket lovers. He brings upon the message of peace, prosperity and progress and that’s the reason why millions of Afghan fans and cricket lovers stay glued onto TV, wherever and in whichever capacity it can be arranged and set-up to see Rashid Khan in action.

So much has already been accomplished in such a short span of time, but the good news for Afghanistan people is that the journey has just begun. The Era of Blue Tigers is just beginning with Rashid Khan at the helm of it.
