International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the newest Test members, Ireland and Afghanistan, Afghanistan and Ireland, will play 12 five-day matches each between 2019 – 2022 in the final and confirmed Future Tours Program (FTP).
Ireland made their Test debut against Pakistan in May 2018 at home, while Afghanistan played their debut test against India in Jun 2018 at Bengaluru, India. Ireland, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe, however, are not part of the Test championship to be held from 15th Jul 2019 – 30th Apr 2021 between the top 9 Test members nations.
Of the 12 matches scheduled, Ireland and Afghanistan will play each other four times between 2019 and 2022. Afghanistan will play host to three of the games, while Ireland will host the final match between the two nations. All series against their opponents will be one-off test matches with limited-overs matches included in the overall tour (only exception being 2021 Zimbabwe tour of Afghanistan, which will feature two Tests).
