The inaugural edition of Global T20 Canada tournament will be broadcasted live on TV on the Asian Television Network (ATN) channel, CBN. ATN is a Canadian company based in Markhan, Ontario and serves 55 Channels in 10 Languages to the South Asian communities in Canada.
The tournament has been officially sanctioned by International Cricket Council (ICC) and the inaugural edition will be held from 28th Jun – 15th Jul, 2018 at Maple Leaf Cricket Club in Toronto. A total of 22 matches, including playoffs and the final will be played in the inaugural edition of the league.
The six teams for the inaugural edition are Toronto Nationals, Montreal Tigers, Edmonton Royals, Vancouver Knights, Winnipeg Hawks and a representative “B” squad from Cricket West Indies. A Total of 31 players from ICC Associate member countries including Canada will be featuring in the tournament, which includes the likes of Hong Kong’s Babar Hayat and Nizakat Khan, Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane, UAE’s Rohan Mustafa, Shaiman Anwar, Ahmed Raza and Mohammad Naveed, Bermuda’s Kamau Leverock, USA’s Ibrahim Khaleel and so on.
All single day matches will start at 4 pm local time, while the double-headers will see the first game being played at 11 am local time. The tournament uses the similar play-off format used in the other major T20 Leagues. One notable difference in the format in comparison with other major leagues is the Round 2 of the tournament, which will see team’s drawing each other in the final game before the play-off’s as per their standings in the points table.
ATN will start the live feed on their CBN channel 15-20 minutes before the set start times for the matches. CBN (Commonwealth Broadcasting Network) primarily caters cricket related programming for commonwealth nations worldwide.
