Nepal players have had two domestic tournaments post the conclusion of ICC World Cup Qualifiers, where they secured their ODI status for the next 4 years. A T20 tournament and a 50-overs tournament (which the senior pros gladly decided to skip) judging the basis on which their preliminary 20-men closed camp squad have been chosen by ICC four their tour of UK & Netherlands.
Yes, the decision for CAN’s reinstatement not getting finalized in the recently concluded ICC Global conference in Dublin, Ireland means that ICC still overseas the national squad proceedings for now.
The closed camp is for preparing for their T20 Triangular series against Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and Netherlands (The match carrying #T20I status) and the subsequent two match ODI series in Netherlands on 01st & 03rd Aug, 2018.
Some old names have returned along with the usual long list of youngsters, who have carried the major burden of the team since ICC WCL Division 2 in Feb 2018.
In our view, it is for the best interest of Nepal’s future to start looking for a potential successor for long serving Captain, Paras Khadka and the process should begin now and not anymore later.
