5 Nations each to compete in Americas & East Asia-Pacific Division 1 qualifiers for U19 World Cup

International Cricket Council (ICC) have announced that the qualification process for the Americas and East Asia-Pacific regional teams for qualification towards 2020 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa will comprise of a single Division 1 tournament only, unlike the two Divisional pathways for Europe, Africa & Asia regions.

The Americas regional Division 1 will see U19 team’s from Argentina, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands and USA competing for the one qualification spot from the region into the main draw of the World Cup. The East Asia-Pacific regional Division 1 will see team’s from Fiji, Japan, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Vanuatu competing for the one qualification spot into the main draw.

Both the regional tournaments will take place in 2019 at dates, which will be announced at a later point. The ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2020 that takes place in the months of January and February in South Africa.

Canada represented the Americas region in the 2018 edition of the U19 Cricket World Cup in Jan 2018 in New Zealand, while Papua New Guinea represented the East Asia-Pacific region in the tournament.
