UAE have started their preparations towards upcoming ACC Asia Cup qualifiers on a positive note after a dominating display with both bat and ball against Malaysia’s President XI on 21st Aug 2018 at Selangor Turf Club.
UAE bowlers set-up the game for their batsmen as they bowled out President XI for only 152 runs in the 46th over. Two wickets apiece to Amir Hayat, Ahmed Raza, Rohan Mustafa and Imran Haider and a wicket apiece to Rahul Bhatia and Fahad Nawaz capped up a disciplined bowling unit performance.
The target was never going to be enough as both openers, Ashfaq Ahmed and Chirag Suri combined in a 100+ runs partnership for the opening wicket, after which they both retired into the pavilion with captain Rohan Mustafa and Rameez Shahzad also getting a hit-out in the middle to take the team to a comfortable win.
UAE will be competing against host’s Malaysia, Hong Kong, Nepal, Oman and Singapore in the Asia Cup qualifiers from Aug 29th – Sep 06th, 2018 for the single qualification spot available for the main draw of ACC Asia Cup, to be held in UAE in Sep 2018.
