Hong Kong announce squad for 2018 Asia Cup

Buoyed by their success in the recently concluded Asia Cup qualifiers in Malaysia, Cricket Hong Kong (CHK) selectors have announced a 17-member squad for 2018 Asia Cup from Sep 15th – 29th, 2018 in UAE. Hong Kong defeated ODI accredited countries UAE (twice) and Nepal in the qualifiers and will play official ODI status matches in the Asia Cup after ICC’s approval for awarding the full tournament with official status. Hong Kong lost their ODI status following a disappointing campaign in 2018 World Cup qualifiers in Mar 2018.

Anshuman Rath continues to lead the squad after Babar Hayat passed on the captaincy reigns before the start of Asia Cup qualifiers. CHK have added Raag Kapur and Tanveer Ahmed to the 15-member squad from the qualifiers. Hong Kong are placed in Group A along with Global heavyweights India and Pakistan, and should they qualify by finishing among the top 2 from the group, will take their place in the Super 4 stage of the tournament.
