Canada give major scare to Red Force but USA go down without much of a fight

Canada continued to be impressive in their group stage fixtures as they gave Trinidad & Tobago Red Force team an almighty scare, only to lose the close contest by a margin of only 2 wickets. Not what many would have expected in terms of the eventual outcome and the manner it came for Red Force, but Canada are almost there and thereabouts to create a major win in the tournament so far and with 5 more matches to go, they will be going into the matches with upbeat confidence gained from all the three games so far.

The same was not the situation for USA though, as their batting was found wanting against Jamaica Scorpions bowling attack and with not much to defend for the bowlers, Guyana quickly wrapped up the chase within the 27th over, losing only 3 wickets in the process to secure a comfortable 7-wicket victory.

USA’s top-order faltered again during their innings with none of the top 5 going on to reach 50 or beyond. Scores in the 20’s and 30’s are not going to be enough to put more pressure on their opposition and with ICC WCL Division 3 not too far away, the batting department needs to sort out the issues quickly. Although, the fact needs to be taken into account that Steven Taylor was not picked up in the starting XI as he remains under contract with Jamaica, which prevented USA management from picking him for the game.

Canada would have hoped to get another 20-25 runs on board but they were up against a very disciplined Red Force bowling attack and almost sneaked through if not for the innings played by Nicholas Pooran, Kyle Hope and Rayad Emrit (towards the end).
