Faisal Khan smashes 3rd fastest T20I half-century to guide Saudi Arabia into the Final

Saudi Arabia did the unthinkable of sorts as they smashed their way into the final of the Asian Cricket Council’s Western Region T20 tournament in Oman as Faisal Khan went absolute tonkers on Kuwait bowlers to record the 3rd fastest half-century in all men’s T20 Internationals off only 15 deliveries to guide his team to a total of 130+ in less than 10 overs to topple both Kuwait and Bahrain to set-up the title clash with Qatar.

Faisal Khan’s knock ranks third only to India’s Yuvraj Singh’s record in only 12 deliveries (vs England in 2007) and New Zealand’s Colin Munro’s effort in only 14 deliveries (vs Sri Lanka in 2016) to register their respective half-centuries in no time. Faisal remained unbeaten on 83 runs off only 28 deliveries as Saudi Arabia chased down Kuwait’s 135/8 with tremendous ease, so to speak!!

Faisal Khan has had a good run-up into this tournament as he was in good form in the Saudi Cricket’s National T20 tournament as well for his team before travelling to Oman for the Western Region T20 event.

Qatar took the match away from Bahrain’s grasp after posting 200+ on the board and it was always going to be a big challenge during the chase as Bahrain got bowled out for 157 in their 19th over. Saudi Arabia, thus finished 2nd in the points table on equal points with Kuwait and Bahrain but on better net run-rate to qualify for the Final. The Final will be played on 24th Jan 2019 (same day fixture) under the lights at 7pm local time.
