Ire/Sco/Ned announce 6-team European T20 League in Aug/Sep 2019

The missing link in the growth of T20 cricket in the emerging European nations has been identified and the solution is also put in place now, after weeks of discussion between Cricket Ireland, Cricket Scotland and Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond (KNCB).

Come August/September 2019, and 6 franchise based team’s (2 team’s each from Ireland, Scotland and Netherlands) will compete in the inaugural European T20 League.

The league will take place from 30th Aug – 22nd Sep 2019, with a total of 33 matches including group stage, semifinals and final to be staged across all the three countries. All 6 teams will have 9 domestic players and 7 overseas professionals in the 16-member squads with the starting XI in each match to feature 6 domestic players as a mandate.

The initial agreement has been made for a 10-year period between the boards of Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands and funding partners GS Holding Inc. and Woods Entertainment, the tournament concept owners. The tournament will be broadcast on a global level.
