Uganda, Nigeria & Sierra Leone set the tone on opening day of U19 qualifiers

Uganda U19 won the bragging rights battle with Kenya U19, while Nigeria U19 stunned host’s Namibia U19, among the talking points at the end of the opening day of action in the 2019 ICC U19 CWC Africa Division 1 qualifiers in Namibia.

Sierra Leone U19 also opened their campaign with a win over Tanzania U19, however, Uganda U19 put the marker on the first day of action by also being the only team to score in excess of 200+ while batting.

The remaining two matches were low-scoring affairs as both Nigeria and Sierra Leone defended sub-par 120+ totals against Namibia and Tanzania. But, with every match being crucial as there won’t be any semis or finals to contest for the lone qualification spot, any win that gives the points will be welcome, doesn’t matter the manner in which it is achieved.
