Following the ODI series win over Zimbabwe, Netherlands also completed their quota of matches required to get their official ICC ODI team rankings. And they have entered the rankings at #13 (37 points) and are the highest ranked Associate member in the table, displacing Scotland from the spot.
Following ICC’s Annual update, that were calculated, after results during 2015-2016 were removed and the results form 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 were taken into account at 50% weightage, Scotland were ranked at #13 and Netherlands still needed few matches to qualify for an official ranking.
Scotland (36 points) are placed at 14th spot in the ODI table, followed by Nepal (19 points) at 15th, UAE (10 points) at 16th and PNG (6 points) at 17th place. PNG made it to the rankings table, having played ODI matches in the 2016-2018 period, including the 2018 ICC World Cup Qualifiers.
Namibia, USA and Oman, who have secured ODI status during the recently concluded ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Division 2, will further need to play eight more ODI matches to qualify for their official ODI team rankings. All three members have so far played only one ODI each, during the final day of the WCL Division 2 event, in the standings (final, 3rd/4th play-off) matches.
All the Associate members with ODI status (except Netherlands) will begin their first cycle of first set of 12 ODI matches in 2019-2021 ICC CWC League 2 from Jul 2019 onwards, where they will play guaranteed 36 ODI matches during the 2 1/2 year period. All member boards are however, allowed to arrange and play ODI matches outside of the League 2 structure as well.
