Netherlands book spot in global qualifiers for Women’s T20 World Cup & World Cup

Netherlands women’s squad have booked their place in the 2019 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup global qualifiers and 2020 ICC Women’s World Cup global qualifiers by winning the Europe qualifiers at La Manga Club in Spain.

Netherlands edged past Scotland on net run-rate after both countries finished on equal points by winning three of their four group stage matches in the Europe qualifiers, with Germany women being the third team in the competition.

The highlights of the tournament were Sterre Kalis’s individual highest score in a women’s T20I with 126 n.o against Germany women and the tied game between Scotland women and Netherlands women, which the former won in the super over eliminator on the penultimate day of action from La Manga.

It was always a tough ask for the German women squad to create wins over both Scotland and Netherlands, however, their performances improved after each completed game and that will give them a lot of confidence in the future tournaments the squad takes part in.

Netherlands now join Ireland, Bangladesh, Thailand, USA, Scotland, Zimbabwe and Papua New Guinea in the global qualifiers, from which the top 2 team’s will qualify for 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
