Namibia join table-toppers after twin wins over PNG in 2nd round of CWC League 2

Cricket Namibia men’s national squad registered their three back-to-back wins at the back-end of the 2nd round of CWC League 2 Championship at Central Broward Regional Park stadium in Florida. Their twin wins over Papua New Guinea has now taken them to equal points with Scotland, Oman and USA at the top of the points table after 12 matches out of 126 have been completed in League 2 Championship so far.

The 3rd round of CWC League 2 will be hosted by UAE in Dec 2019, when they host Scotland and USA. The tournament will be the start of UAE’s campaign in the Championship.

Although Papua New Guinea have had the worst of starts in their campaign so far, losing all their eight completed matches, they still have 28 games left in the Championship, that includes 12, that will be played in their home ground. There were good individual performances during the tournament in Florida, with the likes of Assad Vala, Nosaina Pokana & Charles Amini contributing majorly during their games, however, there was not much support from the rest of the playing XI members consistently to mount a tougher challenge to either USA or Namibia.

Zhivago Groenewald was the standout bowler for Namibia during the tournament, with good support coming from the likes of Jan Frylinck, Bernard Scholtz and Craig Williams as well. Apart from JP Kotze’s smashing century, the rest of the batting line-up contributed in turns during the four games they played.
