Uganda gear up for Challenge League assignment after Zimbabwe tour

Uganda men’s national squad had a successful tour of Takashinga in Zimbabwe, to prepare for the upcoming 1st round of ICC CWC Challenge League Group B event in Dec 2019 in Oman. The tour was the first assignment for Uganda’s senior men’s squad under the leadership of newly elected captain, Brian Masaba.

Uganda played a mixture of T20 and 50-overs games against Takashinga senior and age-group squads and also the Zimbabwe U19 squad during the tour from Nov 04th – 09th, 2019. The tour also included a T20 game with the Old Hararians squad, which boasted of Zimbabwe senior national squad members.

Uganda will be travelling to Oman to compete against Hong Kong, Kenya, Jersey, Bermuda and Italy in Group B of Challenge League, and the matches against Takashinga, whose squad consisted of Zimbabwe national players, provided some tough competition for the Cricket Cranes. The likes of Dinesh Nakrani, Kenneth Waiswa, Franco Nsubuga and Henry Ssenyondo were the consistent performers during the 50-overs matches on the tour; however, the rest of the squad also need to put in more towards the team totals and bowling departments to have a good chance to come out on top in Oman.
