Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond (KNCB) have announced that the senior men’s squads from Denmark and Scotland will be touring the country in Aug 2020, which will bring back International cricket to Dutch shores after the relaxation of travel restriction norms due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Netherlands have been one of the hardest hit among all the cricket countries across the globe, with home matches/series scheduled against New Zealand, Pakistan (ODI Super League) and a 4-team ODI Quadrangular comprising of Associate member countries getting cancelled/postponed due to pandemic lockdowns and travel restrictions in the past 3-4 months. Netherlands Coaching staff had already announced a 27-member senior squad back in Apr 2020, who will represent the country in International games, as and when they resume.
Netherlands will host Denmark from Aug 18th – 20th, 2020, where both will play two one-day matches and a T20I match. This will be followed by the arrival of the Scotland squad (official confirmation pending) between Aug 24th – 28th, with both countries to play each other in two ODI’s and T20Is each at Kampong Cricket Ground in Utrecht.
Netherlands national squad members will play in the 50-over Pro-series prior to the arrival of the Danes. The TopKlasse 50-overs domestic competition have already resumed in the country in Jul 2020. Denmark national squad members have also resumed playing in the domestic leagues since Jun 2020 with T20 and 50-overs competitions. Denmark are also scheduled to host Finland and Germany for a T20I Tri-series towards the end of Jul 2020 and hence, the tour to Netherlands will be a major experience for the national squad.
