Austrian Cricket Association (ACA) will be hosting Women’s team from Cricket Germany (DCB) for a 5-match T20I series from Aug 12th – 15th, 2020 at Seebarn Cricket Ground in Österreich. All the matches in the series will be live streamed on the European Cricket Network website.
The series will be the first Women’s International series being played globally post COVID-19 global lock-downs as travel restrictions relaxations have taken effect in the European region. Germany Women are one of the teams which have already played T20Is in 2020, when they toured Oman in Feb 2020 for a 4-match series. Austria Women have not played any T20I games in 2020, with the national squad having made their T20I debut in 2019, when they visited France to take part in a 4-nation Quadrangular tournament in Jul/Aug 2019.
All matches will be held at Seebarn Cricket Ground, which is owned by Vienna Cricket Club and is the main venue for domestic 20-overs and 40-overs tournaments for Austria Cricket Association. However, the series will mark the ground’s foray into hosting T20I games for the first time. Strict COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place at the ground during the matches as advised by ICC.

Christina Gough was the top performer during the Women’s tour of Oman, making 109 runs and picking up 3 wickets to her name. Janet Ronalds will be the key player with the bat, having raked up 142 runs in that series and Germany will be looking for her to continue on that form and provide crucial runs at the top of the order. Milena Beresford and Emma Bargna will be the key bowlers for the Germans, and in the absence of Anna Healey and Stephanie Frohnmayer, the onus will fall upon them to provide breakthroughs. Karthika Vijayaraghavan and Anne Bierwisch will look for more opportunities in the games in the absence of some of the key players in the squad that toured Oman in Feb 2020. Captain Anuradha Doddaballapur will lead from the front and is always a threat with her all-round capabilities on the field.
