The Asian Cricket Council U19 Asia Cup, which was scheduled to begin from November 18th in the United Arab Emirates in 2020, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ninth edition of the regional age-level tournament will now take place from 20th December 2021 – 02nd January 2022, with UAE staying as the host nation. Asian Cricket Council (ACC) had asked the participating member boards to give their opinion about playing the tournament before deciding to postpone it to 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic situation globally.
Afghanistan U19, India U19, Sri Lanka U19 and Bangladesh U19 teams have already played competitive cricket in the past couple of months now, before they travel to UAE to take part in the ACC U19 Asia Cup in December, followed by ICC U19 World Cup in January-February 2022. United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Nepal were due to take part in the U19 Asia Cup along with India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Kuwait also took part in the previous edition held in 2019 in Sri Lanka, which was their maiden appearance in the tournament’s history.
