Vanautu Cricket Association (VCA) CEO Shane Deitz has taken up the offer from Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond (KNCB) to become the head coach for the Dutch Women’s national squad from 2021.

Deitz will be standing down from his VCA position in March 2021, after an association of 6 years with Vanuatu Cricket saw him take up various posts with the board including being the High Performance Manager and Head Coach before becoming the CEO. Deitz has been instrumental in organizing domestic comeptitions in Vanuatu during COVID-19 pandemic and has organized multiple T10 events, which were also live streamed for global audiences.

Shane Deitz will take over the role from Sean Trouw, in a year that includes the European qualifiers for 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. However, this won’t be the first time he will be associated with Dutch cricket from a coaching perspective, having acted as club coach at Hague Cricket Club in 2007 and at HBS in 2008 and 2012.

Both Vanuatu’s Men’s and Women’s teams are currently ranked in the top 30 in the ICC T20I team rankings.

Shane Deitz said on VCA Facebook page “Working for the VCA has been an honour and a terrific experience. There is so much talent in Vanuatu and a lot of passion and pride to represent the country. The staff members also are part of the teams that represent Vanuatu and add to a fantastic organisation. I am taking up a position as Head Coach of The Netherlands Women’s Cricket team which I am excited about. It is a great opportunity on the field and off the field as finally my wife Marcella and I can spend some time in her home country with her friends and family. I like to thank Mark Stafford and the board for so much support over the six years and backing my big dreams I had for the VCA. All the staff and players who put their whole heart into everything they do and finally all the people of Vanuatu for making us so welcome in their beautiful country. We have life-long friends here and look forward to return as a tourists one day. I wish all teams good luck in 2021 and beyond as they have a big year ahead and I know they will keep progressing and performing on the world stage.
