Access to live broadcast of matches is always a handy plus to promote the sport and reach more audiences in any ICC Associate member countries and Italy is no different. To say that Italy has a rich history in cricket is not something a regular full member country fan would know about.
Even the regular Italian resident might not be knowing about the same and having no access to any matches or games being held in their own backyard is a negative point, that needed to be looked at. In came the Italian Cricket TV and Italian Cricket Network in 2019 to resolve the situation.
Launched in 2019 by Maruf Anowar, the platform has quickly grown in numbers in terms of viewership, and is doing a great deal in popularizing cricket in Italy. Italian Cricket TV also collaborated with the Roma Capannelle Cricket Club, the oldest Cricket Club in Italy and started live streaming domestic games featuring the club and other clubs in Italy. Maruf Anowar himself is an active playing member of the Roma Capannelle club.
The two parties recently signed a two-year rights deal from 2021 to 2022, and will include live streaming of matches from Italian cricket’s key competitions including the Serie A and Coppa Italia T20, held at RCCG ground.
The match videos and live streams are featured on the social media platform at facebook.com/italiancrickettv.
With Italian national domestic T20 tournament winners also featuring in European Cricket League event in 2019 and in the upcoming 2021 edition, live streaming of domestic games has helped the club players to showcase their talent to a broader audience group across the globe and also the coaching set-up of Italian national squad.
