Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) have announced that 12 men’s players will be awarded national contracts for a 3-month period. The contract includes a monthly stipend along with lunch, medical and travel allowances.
The list of players were announced after the conclusion of a 7-day training camp organised by UCA at Entebbe for 26 players, that included training sessions and inter-squad national trial matches under the supervision of Head Coach Lawrence Mathalane.
Mathalane, however has made it clear that being a contracted player wouldn’t call for a direct selection in the final squad that he chooses for the national squads trip to Jersey for CWC Challenge League matches in 2021, which will be live streamed globally by ICC.
Mathalane said in the official press release Cricket “We have rewarded the boys who have showed the greatest character since I have been around, however, there are no guarantees for them of making the final 14-man squad to either Namibia or Jersey. Therefore, I hope the guys don’t get complacent but continue to improve their game and become great ambassadors for Uganda Cricket.”
