The XIII South American Games – officially the XIII Juegos Suramericanos Santa Fe 2026, will be held from September 12th – 26th, 2026, across Santa Fe, Rosario, and Rafaela in Argentina. Cricket will be making its debut among the 60 disciplines on the programme. All matches will be taking place Cricket will at the Club Atlético del Rosario ground in Rosario. It will be a massive moment for the sport in the South American region, as the long-running South American Championships since the late 2000’s, has been the only recognized event in the calendar for the ICC Associate Member countries in the region. With Cricket set to debut also at the Pan American Games in 2027 and Summer Olympics in 2028 in Los Angeles, the South American Games will act as a stepping stone for the growth of the sport in the region, among countries, who are not part of “West Indies” in International cricket.
South American Games will also act as a Qualifier for the Pan American Games in 2027, with the total number of qualification spots yet to be announced. Cricket will have both Men’s and Women’s categories for Medals. Final number of confirmed participants will be announced in due course, with the Games having the provisions set in place for group stage formats, depending on the number of entries. For a five (5)-team event, the format will be a single round-robin group stage, with Top 3 taking home the medals. If the total number of participants is more than five (5), then the format would be Two (2) groups + classification matches (Final, 3rd place, 5th place).
Athletes must comply with ODESUR statutes, ICC eligibility rules, formally entered by their National Olympic Committee, and must hold nationality of the country they represent. Participating Nations at South American Games include Argentina (ICC Associate Member), Aruba, Bolivia, Brazil (ICC Associate Member), Chile (ICC Associate Member) , Colombia (ICC non-member who participates in South American Championships), Curaçao, Ecuador, Guyana (Member Board with Cricket West Indies), Panama (ICC Associate Member), Paraguay, Peru (ICC Associate Member), Suriname (ICC Associate Member), Uruguay (ICC non-member who participates in South American Championships) and Venezuela.
