The replacement and additional players draft for the remainder of 2021 Pakistan Super League (PSL) took place on 22nd May 2021, ahead of the resumption of the league at Abu Dhabi in June 2021.
The six franchises and league officials will have to go through seven days of the quarantine in the UAE upon arrival before they can start taking part in practice sessions. Broadcast and production staff coming in from India and South Africa will have to quarantine for 10 days in a separate hotel.
Total of 12 players were replaced/added from the original HBL PSL 6 squads in a virtual draft held in the presence of representatives from all the six franchises.
Lahore Qalandars picked up Singapore national Timothy David and Sultan Ahmed from UAE as their additional players in the squad, while Multan Sultans picked up Wasim Mohammad of UAE in their squad. Afghanistan’s Zahir Khan also got picked up by Quetta Gladiators in their squad for the tournament. This will be the second major T20 franchise opportunity for Timothy David, as he was one of the top performers for Perth Scorchers during 2021 Big Bash league (BBL) in Australia.
Sultan Ahmed was part of the Qalandars squad during the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament held earlier this year and his performances sees him get the nod by the franchise management. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan too will be joining the Qalandars squad, after he was named as the replacement player.
