Cricket Namibia schedule home and away series before 2021 Men’s T20 World Cup

Cricket Namibia (CN) have put away the disappointment of not being able to travel to Scotland (or alternatively Spain) for their CWC League 2 ODI tri-series involving Scotland and Nepal, by arranging matches/series for the men’s national squad in August and September, before travelling to UAE and Oman to take part in 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in October 2021.

The squad will welcome teams from Zimbabwe (“A” squad) and South Africa (Titans Cricket franchise) at home in August 2021 (depending upon the COVID-19 situation and restrictions in the country), before travelling to South Africa to play against the Bloemfontein-based franchise, Knights.

CN president Dr. Rudie van Vuuren said during the virtual Annual General Meeting of the board “At the beginning of 2021, the Men’s squad embarked on an intense skills development, conditioning and personal development program. The hard work was evident when the team faced Uganda and the Emerging Proteas. Our team has shown immense resilience in the way they have handled the canceled CWL 2 games against Scotland, PNG and Nepal. We however look forward to the series against the Zimbabwe A, Titans and Knights in August and September 2021, before they head off to Dubai and Oman for the T20 World Cup.”

“Our women and girls’ cricket has gone from strength to strength in 2021, we incorporated women’s cricket fully into the CN structure and we are proud of their performance at the Kwibuka tournament.”
