The 2022 edition of JPL (Japan Premier League) T20 competition, organized by Japan Cricket Association (JCA) will feature representative teams from East Kanto region, West Kanto region, South Kanto region, North Kanto region and Kansai region. The tournament will take place from April 29th – May 01st at Sano International Cricket Ground. This will be the 12th edition of the tournament being staged.
Each team plays each other in a single round-robin group stage format, followed by a final between the top two teams. JCA have also announced that the matches played during the tournament will be live streamed on their YouTube channel for global viewership. All the regions compete in the Japan Cricket League (JCL) competitions as well, with regional clubs participating over three divisions in the 40-overs format.
JPL acts as a yardstick for domestic players to achieve their goals for selection in the Men’s national squad. With only nine (9) members of the men’s core national squad confirmed for 2022 International tournaments, the reasoning spots are still to be announced and performances in JPL T20 will be crucial for players.
