Oman Cricket (OC) have announced their 15-member men’s squad, which will compete in the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup from 17th October at home, where they play their group stage fixtures in the first round of the tournament against Papua New Guinea, Scotland and Bangladesh. Oman Cricket are also scheduled to host two rounds of ODI Tri-series as part of CWC League 2 qualification pathway prior to the T20 World Cup in the month of September 2021, continuing their build-up towards the marquee event.
Oman will host men’s teams from Nepal and United States of America from September 13th – 20th followed by tri-series against Scotland and Papua New Guinea from September 25th – October 02nd. Oman currently lead the points table in the competition, with top 3 teams at the end of the league to qualify automatically for 2023 World Cup Qualifiers.
Oman Cricket development officer and head coach Duleep Mendis had the opportunity to have the men’s team compete in competitive matches during the recent visit by India state team, Mumbai, from August 24th – 03rd September 2021. Sri Lanka, who are part of the other first round group of the T20 World Cup, will be visiting Oman in the first week of October and play two (2) T20Is with the national squad.
