Top 5 finish in Women’s World Cup Qualifiers will guarantee spots in ICC Women’s Championships

The ICC Women’s World Cup qualifier set to take place from November 21st – December 05th in Zimbabwe is a 10-team tournament, the schedule for which will be announced in due course, and will decide the final three qualifiers for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 to be held in New Zealand from March 04th – April 03rd, joining Australia, England, India, South Africa and hosts New Zealand.

The major announcement made by ICC today was that the three qualifiers as well as the next two teams in the points table will secure their places in the next ICC Women’s Championship (IWC) cycle along with the top five from last time, as the number of teams in the third cycle of the IWC goes up from eight to 10 teams.

Women’s teams from Bangladesh, Ireland, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the United States, the West Indies and Zimbabwe will now not only be competing for World Cup spots but also a place in the next cycle of IWC.
