Uganda to host Kenya and Nigeria for One-Day and T20I Tri-series in September 2021

Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) will host men’s national squads from Kenya and Nigeria from September 02nd – 19th, 2021, as all three countries begin preparations for upcoming ICC regional qualifiers and Challenge League tournament in October/November/December 2021.

Uganda will host Kenya for a 3-match series on the 50-overs format on 04th, 05th and 07th September, before Nigeria joins them for a T20I Tri-series tournament from September 09th – 17th, 2021. No matches will be played at Entebbe, and all the matches will be live streamed by Uganda Cricket. Nigeria national squad players were part of various national trial and domestic T20 matches in the past couple of months, with the national squad last International assignment coming during ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers in 2019 in UAE.

The T20Is will be of utmost importance due to upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa qualifiers in Rwanda from 14th â€“ 23rd October and 31st October – 08th November in Kigali. All the teams will play each other three (3) times during the Tri-series group stages, followed with the top 2 meeting in the final. Both Kenya and Nigeria took part in the 2019 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers held in United Arab Emirates in October/November, and that remains their last International assignment due to COVID-19 pandemic situation. Uganda have played International cricket in 2021, having toured Namibia for a bi-lateral series in both white-ball formats in April.
