The Cricket World Cup (CWC) Super League ODI series of three (3) matches between New Zealand and Netherlands has been confirmed by the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) for the 2022 season schedule announced (with amendments to venues) for the Blackcaps (Men’s national squad). The tour schedule announced by NZC sees the Dutch begin their tour with a T20I game against the Blackcaps, followed by the ODI matches on 29th March, 02nd and 04th April 2022. The first two matches (one T20I & one ODI) will be played at Bay Oval, Tauranga, while Seddon Park, Hamilton, will host the last two matches (two ODIs) of the tour.
Netherlands, who are part of the 2020-2023 ODI Super League competition, recently played their 2nd completed series in the Championship against Afghanistan in Qatar without much success, while they hosted Ireland at home in 2021 in their first series and won two (2) matches in the 3-match series. Netherlands were in the middle of their series against South Africa in December 2021, where they completed one game, before flying back home due to concerns over Omicron COVID-19 variant.
Netherlands squad will get ample preparations opportunities before they take on the Blackcaps, as they play a NZ XI select team in two (2) matches in the 50-overs format and one match in the T20 format. The NZ XI squad for the 2nd warm-up (50-overs) and the solitary T20 match will see retiring Blackcaps member Ross Taylor take part in the matches as well.
